Anfossi

SNOWSTORM

Francesca Anfossi is working mainly with found footage, imagery mostly coming from postcards. With these she is creating objects, pictures that enhance the idealized, dreamlike versions of reality of the depicted places. Anfossi does this in a very playful, explorative way and this results in sometimes fantastic landscapes.

Anfossi consistently seeks to amplify the often-overlooked subtleties in naturally occurring scenes.  Through the use of collage, sculpture, paint, and video, the viewer is lead through a journey of imaginary landscapes.  Her works act sometimes as souvenirs, the objects and images prompt an internal remembrance of experiences, rather than reproducing the actuality of an event.

Anfossi studied at the Slade School of Art and had shown nationally and internationally, including Igloo Cinema at Southbank Centre, London, Sunspot Mirage at Bishoff/Weiss, London, Soul Stripper, Project Midi, Brussels and Il vaso di Gaetano ed altre storie, Le Case d'Arte, Milano.
